A Few Words About ERAF

The Equine Rescue and Adoption Foundation (ERAF) is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation devoted to the rescue, retraining and rehabilitation of abused, slaughter-bound, abandoned and neglected horses in South Florida and the Treasure Coast.

We work closely with Sheriff’s Departments and Animal Care and Control Departments to identify these horses and remove them from dangerous and potentially lethal environments.  Our dedicated professional providers, supporters and volunteers work diligently to rehabilitate and care for these magnificent horses to bring them to a healthy and socialized state.

The disturbing picture to the left are just examples of how badly these animals are when they arrive at our facility.  Many are far worse.  Most people cannot look at these images and not become emotional and angry.  We are committed to changing the lives of these animals for the better and finding them loving forever homes.

What People Say About Us

Joni Paterson says ...

Primo!! Absolutely primo. I investigated a lot of equine rescue organizations and can honestly say ERAF is one of, if not, the best. They do exactly what they say they do: rescue magnificent horses from dire fates, provide excellent care, allow them to heal and progress to find their natural abilities, and carefully vet loving homes for them. The volunteers are so passionate and well trained. Love and respect just flows! The facilities are top notch and the organization is well managed by consummate professionals who know and love horses and what it takes to run a clean business based on integrity. Donor dollars are well placed here. They are used appropriately and efficiently. Gosh, what more can you ask for??? So impressed!! ERAF is an absolute gem!! I'd give them 10 stars!!

"What an amazing place! The loving energy that surrounds the barn (cleanest one you will ever find), paddocks, and grounds, is a reflection of the people who come together (from all walks of life) to save lives and wrap their arms and hearts around beautiful and amazing horses once forgotten or abused. Volunteer here and not only will you help some amazing horses but you will feel great yourself!"
