Torrential Rains Visit ERAF Once Again
South Florida has once again been visited by a storm system that has dropped over 17 inches of rain on our property over the past nine days. Unfortunately the weather forecast is not favorable and it looks like we’ll be receiving a lot more rain between today (May 21, 2018) and at some point towards the middle of next week. Due to the fact that the water has few places to go our paddocks have been flooded, our horses soaked, and our heroic staff and volunteers stressed way beyond reasonable.
Below is a video that one of our volunteers created to show the magnitude of the problem(s).
Our staff and volunteers routinely go above and beyond but this recent weather has forced them to stretch way beyond where any normal person might say enough. The author of this piece watched as a 70 year old woman dragged a wheel barrow through the mud to muck a stall. It is only through these types of heroics that our horses will remain safe and healthy and only wet. It is remarkable to see the level of commitment displayed by our staff and volunteers.
To all of those that have been instrumental in helping us this week we would like to sincerely say thank you.
